Description
Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicide is a post-emergent herbicide for control of crabgrass and goosegrass in cool-season turf. Acclaim Extra can be used effectively at any point after crabgrass has germinated and does an excellent job on young crabgrass plants. Where Acclaim really shines, however, is in control of mid to late season crabgrass plants that have reach a 4-tiller stage or larger. Once crabgrass gets to this size, many controls on the market can see a loss of efficacy. When this happens, turn to Acclaim Extra to make sure the job gets done! When it comes to mid-size crabgrass there’s simply not a more effective option!
-Post-emergence control of crabgrass and goosegrass for cool season turf and zoysiagrass as well as around ornamentals and can also be used to treat Japanese stiltgrass.
-Excellent control of plants at larger tiller stages.
-Provides suppression of the growth and spread of Johnsongrass and common bermudagrass.

We will not sell products that have gone bad, and we would not consider 2018 as old stock as many products from distributors have 2018 and 2019 manufacture dates. Most pesticides are not continuously built, but rather built in manufacturing runs that may cover a products usage for a couple years.

No, Acclaim is actually used to CONTROL Bermudagrass in fescue lawns and zoysia lawns. The only warm season grass type that Acclaim Extra is safe to apply over is Zoysia.
I live in Missouri and have a Tall Fescue lawn. I have 4 tiller Crabgrass clumps throughout my lawn . It is now October 3rd and I have completed a good over seeding. When (time of year) should I apply Acclaim Extra for best results (keeping in mind my expensive over seeding)? Please advise? Thanks!

I wouldn't bother spraying the crabgrass with Acclaim at all at this point. You can't apply Acclaim over newly seeded turf until its been mowed at least 3 times. By the time your new grass is mature enough to survive an application, you the crabgrass will be dying off on its own and spraying Acclaim won't be necessary. For best results going forward, Acclaim Extra is best used in the summer when crabgrass is actively growing, but not within 2 weeks before a seeding or within 3 mows after a seeding.
I want to eliminate Japenese stiltgrass and crabgrass from my lawn in Western PA. You Product Sheet lists 1-2- and 4 tiller rates. What is a tiller?? I will be applying the Acclaim Extra from a tow-behind sprayer.
Also, I see that I have to avoid tree roots. What radius from a tree should I use as a no-spray zone?

As it matures, if you look at the center of the plant you will see multiple stems or shoots coming from the center of the plant. These extra main shoots are the tillers. As for a proper radius for tree roots, a good rule to go by is at least the drip-line of a tree, which is to say the same distance out as the furthest branches.
